Lately I've been drifting a little, both at work and at home. I've been keeping things ticking over, but I don't think I have been moving forward. There have been periods where days go by and I don't feel like I have achieved anything at all. Not one thing. New month, new financial year, and a time to try something a little bit different.
I hope to try and achieve at least one thing every day and if possible, two things - one at home and one at work. I'm going to try and move it forward for 30 days and see what happens.
Anyway...

I've started getting my filing at work in order. Since I started working here in November, I haven't done any proper filing. I feel bad about this because I started my career in the public service in a records management position. Today I worked out how to order new files (I've been doing some filing on existing files). It's a small step but it's one I've been avoiding for a while.

I worked out how to use Secondbrain. It might look suspiciously like futzing instead of doing work, but I plan to use Secondbrain to organise my research for planning our garden, which has lain fallow for long enough. We've talked about planning and actually planting a garden for almost 2 years. It's time some planning actually got underway.

Let me know how SecondBrain works out. If you have any extra invitations I may beg you for one. Thanks. Moew27 from Jaiku
Secondbrain doesn't have user invites. Just do what I did and sign up as a future beta tester and wait. I got an invite to be a beta tester after a couple of weeks.
If you read the Read/Write Web review, I think the Secondbrain team left a special code in the comments section that may get you a priority response.
well that was the slowest website i've attempted to view in a long while.
i'm guessing the app is something like a mind mapper ? Have you bumped into http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page before ?
congrats on the filing efforts anyway.. i have yet to acquaint myself with our records management unit..
I've used Freemind which is nice, but Secondbrain is more about mindmapping/organising your online resources eg del.icio.us bookmarks, flickr photos, Zoho Office online documents etc.
It's got potential, but I haven't worked out how to get it working for me yet. It's compounded by having IE 6 issues which means I can't use it at work, when lunch hours would be a perfect time to do so.
Ultimately it's nothing that some manilla folders, a printer and a stapler couldn't do, but I've never let that get in the way of being 2.0 ;)
Hi guys,
Yes, pls just apply on www.secondbrain.com and I'll give you access to the preview release.
It is true we're a bit slow and some features are not really finished yet. But we're spending the summer rebuilding the whole system - look forward to a faster, richer way of managing all your files and internet content.
